Shipping/Customs Fee Request on Facebook Messenger
A courier or customs narrative introduces a specific, time-limited fee needed to release an unsolicited gift. On Facebook Messenger, where the dominant catfish pattern is a compromised or cloned friend account used to message contacts directly, this tactic is a common companion to that pattern. Facebook Messenger supports live video calling in-app, so a live call is the fastest way to test for this tactic directly.
Counter-Move
Unsolicited expensive gifts that require a fee to release are a scripted setup, not a customs process — legitimate couriers do not operate this way.
