Refuses Video Call on WhatsApp
A new, plausible-sounding reason each time a video call is proposed, with the request never flatly refused. On WhatsApp, where the dominant catfish pattern is non-fixed VoIP numbers used to route the conversation off the original dating platform, this tactic is a common companion to that pattern. WhatsApp supports live video calling in-app, so a live call is the fastest way to test for this tactic directly.
Counter-Move
Ask for an unscripted, specific live action (a hand gesture, a spoken word) rather than repeating the general request.
