Photo Hesitancy on Facebook
A request for a simple new photo (holding up a written word, a specific pose) is met with delay, excuse, or a repeat of an old photo. On Facebook, where the dominant catfish pattern is thin, recently-created profiles with few mutual connections used as identity cover, this tactic is a common companion to that pattern. Facebook supports live video calling in-app, so a live call is the fastest way to test for this tactic directly.
Counter-Move
A specific, unscripted photo request that keeps getting deferred is functionally the same signal as refusing a video call.
