BEHAVIORALMESSAGING
Isolation from Support Network on Facebook Messenger
Direct pressure to keep the relationship secret, or defensive reactions when a target mentions what others think. On Facebook Messenger, where the dominant catfish pattern is a compromised or cloned friend account used to message contacts directly, this tactic is a common companion to that pattern. Facebook Messenger supports live video calling in-app, so a live call is the fastest way to test for this tactic directly.
Counter-Move
Deliberately keep at least one outside person informed of the relationship's progress as a standing check.
Check It
The tell — Direct pressure to keep the relationship secret, or defensive reactions when a target mentions what others think. — is carried in message text, which is what this tool compares against known script patterns.
