Burner Number Usage on WhatsApp
A number that traces to a VoIP or virtual carrier rather than a standard mobile carrier, not matching the claimed region. On WhatsApp, where the dominant catfish pattern is non-fixed VoIP numbers used to route the conversation off the original dating platform, this tactic is a common companion to that pattern. WhatsApp supports live video calling in-app, so a live call is the fastest way to test for this tactic directly.
