Authority Invocation on Facebook
The claimed role conveniently explains every inconvenient pattern at once: no video calls, unusual hours, or need for funds. On Facebook, where the dominant catfish pattern is thin, recently-created profiles with few mutual connections used as identity cover, this tactic is a common companion to that pattern. Facebook supports live video calling in-app, so a live call is the fastest way to test for this tactic directly.
Counter-Move
A real high-prestige role is independently checkable (a registry, an employer, a licensing board) — ask, and treat resistance as the answer.
