Handling a Request to Move Off the Original Platform on Tinder
Delay the move until enough conversation has happened on the original platform to make reporting meaningful if needed. On Tinder, where the dominant catfish pattern is stolen influencer/model photo sets run across dozens of duplicate profiles, this applies directly: Moving off the platform you matched on gives up its reporting, moderation, and message-history tools.
Steps
- 01
Ask why they want to move, and treat a vague or urgent-sounding answer as informative.
- 02
Screenshot the conversation on the original platform before moving anywhere else.
- 03
If you do move, pick the destination yourself rather than accepting theirs.
